We were extremely disappointed with our last visit. We took the Danny J over to celebrate our anniversary with dinner. When we arrived, we were told we would not be seated for an hour an a half which would have been fine except that we were given no notice or choice of seating times at booking. We checked out the galleries and returned 10 minutes prior to our seating time...only to wait another 45 minutes. We were finally seated less than an hour before our boat departed and had to really rush our meal to catch the boat. Our food was another huge disappointment. We had the scallops and black cod, both of which were burned on one side an nearly raw on the other. The side vegetables were terribly overcooked, and the lentils were soupy and overwhelmingly tasted of lemon. We have lived in Homer for years and have had many wonderful experiences at the Saltry with friends and family, including our wedding. This was such a disappointment and absolutely awful. Part of the essential Kachemak Bay experience. Take a water taxi or the Danny J across the bay from Homer and have a delicious seafood dinner in scenic Halibut Cove Literally the best food I've had in a super long time! If it's not in season they won't serve it. Extremely fresh! Make sure you walk the boardwalk and visit the gift shops. Unique beautiful setting. Excellent service. Limited menu but very well prepared. It's an adventure! Reservations are Required. Fun to drive up in your own boat. Nice ride over on the Danny J. The place was packed with friendly folks.
